Last Saturday, Rainey travelled to Deramore Park, home of Belfast Harlequins, for the next round of the AIL. Looking to build on the previous week’s success against Dolphin, a 7-29 bonus-point victory was more than enough to lift them to fifth in the table.

Rainey finally got their AIL campaign into gear at the weekend with an emphatic nine-try bonanza against struggling Cork side Dolphin. In a match that ended in an almost unplayable fog, they ran out 62-17 winners, and moved clear of the AIL 2B relegation zone.

Rainey’s trip south to face Dublin side Malahide in the AIL was a victim to the aftermath of Storm Ciaran. With the Malahide grounds at Estuary Road being unfit to play due to flooding the venue was switched to Belvedere College. Despite a great comeback home side eventually ran out 27-21 winners.

Instonians were the visitors to Hatrick Park at the weekend, as they continue their long march back to top flight rugby. Having marched unbeaten through AIL 2C last season, they are continuing their upward trajectory through 2B, emerging 28-61 winners from this encounter.
