As the AIL enters its second half, Rainey travelled to Stevenson Park, Dungannon for the first of the return fixtures. Unfortunately, their form in the pre-Christmas game was not to be repeated, with the home side running out easy winners, on a 21-8 scoreline and knocking Rainey down into sixth position.

Rainey enter the Christmas AIL break on a high after Saturday’s crucial win against Dungannon in the local derby, a try-bonus point being the icing on the cake. The result takes the Magherafelt men to fifth position at the half-way point of the league.

A (mostly) young Rainey team travelled south to County Galway for the latest AIL fixture against Galway Corinthians last weekend. With a gale blowing, and suffering four yellow cards throughout the match, they did well to only go down to a 35-7 loss, and will look forward to facing the Galwaymen when they travel North in the New Year.

Skerries were the latest AIL visitors to Hatrick Park as the league resumed after a rest week. Despite a confident start, Rainey’s hopes of building on their recent momentum were sadly dashed as they crashed to a 28 – 47 defeat.
