As they head towards the business end of the league, Rainey knew they had come away from Saturday’s home match against Belfast Harlequins with as many points as possible, given the difficult run-in. Despite a shaky start, once they got going, they never looked back, earning a last-gasp bonus point in a 27-13 victory.

Travelling south to Skerries last weekend, Rainey must have felt quietly confident about coming away with a win and maybe even a bonus point. Instead, two red cards in the opening half hour cut them to thirteen players for the majority of the game, and in the end, they did well to hang on for a 29 – 24 defeat, winning a losing bonus point for their efforts.

After last Saturday’s disappointing loss to Dungannon in AIL 2B, Rainey welcomed 2^nd place Galway Corinthians to Hatrick Park for what promised to be a tense encounter.  The previous match between the two teams resulted in a 5-try rout for the Magherafelt men, but on this occasion the tables were turned as Rainey secured a 16-10 victory taking them back to fifth place in the league.
